The motivation why an artist chooses to express himself in any way is important. He does this with a certain intention. Richard Doest is a figurative and observant artist. The everyday life of our community captures his attention.
One of the main topics of his work is his passion for dance and music. Especially the tambú and the ka’i òrgel fascinate him as he considers these as very authentic to the island. Richard’s work is important for the documentation of our folklore; the way people dance, how we use the music instruments in our own way.
Every country has its own historical imaging. We are happy to have figurative artists such as Richard to capture this and make us part of these historical values.
You are cordially invited to attend the opening on Dia di Kòrsou, Saturday October 10, from 10 AM to 2 PM.
The exhibition will be on show until October 24, 2020.
