Richard Doest (1942), a native Curaçaoan with roots in Suriname, worked as an engineer for the oil refinery until his retirement. Better known as a musician and maker of drums, he discovered painting at a later stadium. He now uses mixed media on paper, carton, wood and canvas to reflect his passion for our cultural heritage. Richard depicts the contemporary and daily actions of the local population his unique and colorful way.
